About this opportunity
The Portia Geach Memorial Award is an annual prize of $30,000 for the best portrait painting of a distinguished Australian from life. Open to female artists, it requires the artwork to be two-dimensional, executed in paint, and completed within the year preceding the submission date.
Who can apply
- The applicant must be a female artist who is an Australian citizen or British born and have been resident in Australia during the twelve months preceding 15 August 2025.
- The artwork must be an original, two-dimensional painting executed entirely during the year commencing 14 August 2025, and completed by the date of submission.
- It must be a portrait, painted from life, of a distinguished person in Art, Letters, or the Sciences (self-portraits are accepted).
