The Kyoto Kachokan Endowment Prize 2026 is a competition for emerging artists in Japanese Painting and Ceramics. It is open to individuals aged 35 and under who have ties to Kyoto, such as studying or originating from the prefecture. Who can apply

Must be under 35 years old and aspiring to be an artist.
Must meet one of the following conditions: currently studying or training in Kyoto Prefecture (including foreign students);
OR a Kyoto Prefecture native or formerly affiliated with a Kyoto Prefecture school while studying or training in another prefecture;
OR feel a deep connection to Kyoto.
Professional artists currently earning income from their artistic activities are not eligible.
Previous recipients of the Grand Prize for this scholarship are not eligible.
