About this opportunity

The Shibi Art Project 2026 is seeking artists for a 45-day residency in the Shibi district of Satsuma-cho, Kagoshima, Japan, from January 25 to March 10, 2027. Participants will contribute to the project's third iteration, focusing on community engagement and rediscovering local value. Artists will receive a stipend of 280,000 JPY for production and living expenses, plus a travel subsidy up to 90,000 JPY.
