About this opportunity
The PEN Translates x SALT grant supports publishers worldwide in translating South Asian literature into English, with a focus on works by authors from South Asia or of South Asian heritage. Applications are open for titles set for publication between September 2027 and September 2029, with awards covering up to 100% of translation costs and requiring fair compensation for translators.
Who can apply
- Publishers based anywhere other than South Asia are eligible.
- Works must be originally published in any official or unofficial language of South Asia, with authors who are citizens of a South Asian country, residents in South Asia, or of South Asian heritage.
- Applications must include a named translator and an edited sample translation.
